Mission statement
The principle objective of ARAUNY is the prevention and abolition of all forms of animal abuse and exploitation. Begun in Rochester NY in 1989, incorporated in 1991, our all-volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit grassroots organization strives to promote a better understanding of the effects of human actions and attitudes toward nonhuman animals. We host guest speakers on the many animal rights issues, conduct nonviolent demonstrations, distribute animal rights literature, and further educate through various public outreach venues.
ARAUNY challenges all exploitation of nonhuman animals, including our own complicity in it. We work to change human perception of animals from that of regulated exploitation to one of respect and liberation. We are committed to the understanding that nonhuman animals are sentient beings with their own language and an inherent right to their lives. We affirm that animals do not exist for human use or exploitation, in any way, for any reason. Together we make the choice to advocate daily for the rights of all nonhuman animals.

To join ARAUNY, please print and complete our membership form (PDF format) and remit a check for the amount of your membership type.
ARAUNY annual membership DUES are $15/year per individual, or $25/year per family. Please check off the category on the membership form—Active or Supporting—that best defines your personal level of involvement with ARAUNY at this time. To the best of our ability, all members will be kept updated on ARAUNY's upcoming events. Thank you for joining us, and please know that your support and participation in our 'local' advocacy work for animals are greatly appreciated.
